Jorge Zavala is the CEO of TechBA Silicon Valley, an organization devoted supporting Mexican companies create new Information Technology (IT) partnerships and commercial opportunities with American entrepreneurs. Short for Technology Business Accelerator, the initiative was launched in 2004 and has since had about 1,500 Mexican companies take its workshops worldwide, generating $100 million in direct U.S. sales and $600 million in indirect sales. TechBA Silicon Valley has provided services to more than 300 small and medium size Mexican companies in the last 6 years.
TechBA works closely with the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (La Red de Talentos Mexicanos en el Exterior – http://www.redtalentos.gob.mx/). Supported by the Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Institute links Mexicans abroad with Mexicans in Mexico to encourage the development of high value companies and wealth creation for Mexican companies and entrepreneurs. The Institute has offices in nine foreign cities including Montreal, Vancouver and has recently established a chapter in Toronto.
Jorge is a unique high tech entrepreneur combining technical knowledge and expertise in the fields of electronics and computer science. Jorge has extensive experience as a venture capitalist, in creating new IT ventures, and as a professional communicator and executive business management trainer.
With more than 35 years of management experience, he has founded and been CEO of seven companies. Prior to joining TechBA Silicon Valley as CEO, he worked as an Associate Partner and CTO of Visionaria, a venture capital group that provides funding, consulting and coaching capabilities to IT companies.
Jorge received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Universidad La Salle, Mexico in 1979, and a MS in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1984.
